We’re thrilled to partner with Encore to bring you a series of heartfelt ways to give back! This is more than volunteering—it’s about creating connections that stretch beyond our usual circles and into the wider NYC community. Together, we’ll extend a bit of Closer’s magic to new faces. A $5 ticket holds your spot and helps us keep everything running smoothly, so we can focus on making a difference together.

Venue
Join us at the Encore Community Services Aging Through Arts Center, 239 W 49th Street, near 8th Ave, in the basement of St. Malachy’s Church. Look for entrances on either side of the main entrance—head down one flight, using the elevator on the left (when it’s behaving!) or the stairs on the right. Let reception know you’re here for Food Packing with Closer, and they’ll guide you to check in.

What to Know
We’ll be assembling meal packs to be delivered to older adults in need. Each volunteer will help pack both meals and essentials like milk, bread, and fruit—things that are challenging to get from traditional food pantries. To make the magic happen, volunteers should be comfortable lifting up to 15 lbs.

What to Wear
Come comfortable! Long pants, a sleeved shirt (no tanks or shorts), and closed-toe shoes are perfect. We’ll kick things off with a quick orientation and then dive right into packing.
